Fillings
The team at Cannington Dental Centre is pleased to provide a broad array of services at one location. We can take care of all ages, offering the solutions you and your loved ones need to show off a healthy, beautiful smile for life. If you have a tooth that has been damaged, a restorative option such as a filling may be appropriate.
A filling is used to make repairs to a tooth that has decayed or broken from a form of trauma. It acts as a substance that fills the damaged area, restoring your smile.
What to Expect When Getting a Filling
At your appointment, you’ll come in to have your filling done and get anaesthetic applied. We have some patients who don’t want to have anaesthetic, so the choice is completely up to you. We will prepare your mouth for the filling by removing any cracks, area of decay or compromised tooth material. We’ll rebuild the area by applying a tooth-coloured material called composite resin. After it has been applied, we will check your bite and make sure your teeth meet comfortably before sending you home.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know if I need a filling?
Are there alternatives to getting a filling?
Does it hurt to have a filling done?
Do I need to have a follow-up after my initial appointment for a filling?
No second appointment is necessary after getting your filling. There are, however, some situations in which you may want to give us a call. If the anaesthetic wears off and your bite isn’t quite comfortable, contact us straightaway. It’s difficult to give proper feedback while you’re numb, so it’s normal to return for some slight adjustments.
